 Malakoff Trading Post, Inc. is a corporation owned by Phillip Surls. Phillip was born and raised in Malakoff, Texas where he began his endeavors while still in high school, cutting and selling wood in the winters, and entrepreneuring fire works stands in the summers. With Cedar Creek Lake growing and bringing lots of new homes to the area, Phillip saw a need for a grass company. He found his contacts and started selling sod. This business grew from a few truckloads of sod per month to sometimes as many as 8 truckloads a week presently. Seeing that the market was ready for stone, Phillip ventured out and expanded his inventory to include natural stone. He now has the largest stone inventory in the county.
In April, 1996, Malakoff Trading Post incorporated. Along about the same time, Phillip decided to employ the talents of his Dad, Larry Surls, and began to develop the construction portion of Malakoff Trading Post. Now, industrial construction is a large portion of the establishment.
Another facet of Malakoff Trading Post is in the field of property development. This work includes such items as building roads, clearing timber from property, building dams for lakes and digging ponds.
